The world promotes a twisted concept of self love: That our value comes from engaging in worldly pursuits that will never fulfill or nourish our souls. It has turned into an obsession; that we are worthy, beautiful, happy, successful, good. . . only if someone tells us that we are. Enough! You are enough.
Social media and selfie culture is a byproduct of this obsession. A life of clicks, likes, shares; an endless pursuit for external validation. What are we seeking?
This is not loving yourself; this is an unhealthy obsession; loving the external, the world and its admiration. The world's approval is a brief and hollow moment of satisfaction. It will never let you go, it cannot be quenched, and it will devour you with every click, share, and like, until you can't distinguish yourself, from your selfie.
Don't trade your soul in for external validation.
Stop chasing the external. Fuck your selfie. Love yourself.
Think carefully: Does using social media ever improve your own self love?
